The Qoy
Whilst the Regiment itself was only formed on 1st April 1971 from five of the traditional yeomanry units. Five Squadrons raised in Scotland, England and Northrn Ireland all have their own impressive history.
Today as the only territorial army armoured reconnaissance regiment the QOY is equiped with CVR(T).
The regiments five Squadrons are located at Ayr (A Sqn), Belfast (B Sqn), Cupar in Fife (C Sqn), and Newcastle (D Sqn) and York (Y Sqn).
The Regiment has many battle honours, including some of the most famous battles of the Boer War and both World Wars. HRH The Prince of Wales was appointed as the Royal Honorary Colonel in 2000.
D SQN QOY are currently located in Fenham Barracks, Newcastle.
